The project offers a replicable, best-practice model, rehabilitating soil, land and water resources
Research and development activity focus on developing best practice management in acquiring food, fibre and fuel production while halting degradation due to human mismanagement. Pilot nature conservation practices focus primarily on ecosystem corridors and natural re-vegetation processes.
Key climate and environmental benefits
• Permanence: carbon sequestration in hazelnut trees, over the lifetime of the plantation
• Restoration of previously degraded soils and vegetation cover
• Protection of watershed with newly established ecosystem buffers
• Conservation of 350 ha of natural forests, specially designed ecosystem corridor network
